Historical Context
About the Walking Liberty Half series
Designer: Adolph A. WeinmanYears struck: 1916–1947

Widely considered one of the most beautiful US coin designs. Weinman's full-figure Liberty striding toward the dawn, draped in the American flag, became iconic enough that the US Mint resurrected the obverse for the American Silver Eagle in 1986. Replaced by the Franklin Half in 1948.
