Historical Context
About the Barber Dime series
Designer: Charles E. BarberYears struck: 1892–1916

Designed by Mint Chief Engraver Charles Barber after public dissatisfaction with the previous Seated Liberty design. The 1894-S Barber Dime is one of the most famous American rarities — only 24 were struck, and roughly 9 are known to survive. Series ended in 1916 with the introduction of the Mercury Dime.
