Historical Context
About the Lincoln Memorial series
Designer: Frank Gasparro (reverse), Victor David Brenner (obverse)Years struck: 1959–2008

The Lincoln Memorial reverse replaced the Wheat reverse in 1959 to mark Lincoln's 150th birth anniversary. The composition switched from 95% copper to copper-plated zinc in 1982 — the famous "small date / large date" varieties of 1982 mark the transition. Replaced by four bicentennial designs in 2009.
